Virtual Reality and Virtual Bodies

چکیده
There are many ways to produce the sense of 'presence' or telepresence in the user of virtual reality. For example attempting to increase the realism of the visual environment is a commonly accepted strategy. In contrast, this paper explores a way for the user to feel present in an unrealistic virtual body. It investigates an unusual approach, proprioceptive illusions. Proproceptive or body ilusions are used to generate and explore the experience of virtuality and presence outside of the normal body limits. These projects are realized in art installations.
